Hi,
I am running Linux CentOS 5.8 and I am using Trac 0.12 with your Agilo
plugin. I would like to upgrade it to latest version.

I will use Python egg.

Where on your web site can I find the following basic information: which is
the current version of your software, Pro and Free?

Thank you.

Dear Danijel,
Where on your web site can I find the following basic information: which is the current version of your software, Pro and Free?
On the documentation page (http://agilofortrac.com/documentation/) there is a link called "Release notes for recent Agilo versions", just under the Upgrade section.

There you will find the basic information you need, and more detailed information about the different versions.

Cheers,

Thanks. Seems like latest entry is "Agilo For Trac Pro 1.3.13 and Agilo for
Trac 0.9.13".

Could you move the version information to Download web page maybe? Normaly
zip file contains version info too. Normaly... Version being burried
somewhere deep in the documentation is very frustrating.

Regards,
Danijel

you are guessing right :)

Ours is a design decision intended to keep the website clean and the information well organized.
At the bottom of the Download page, there is already a link to the changelog page I mentioned before, so I don't agree this information is deeply buried.

All of our download files contain the version information, if you have found this is not the case can you please point us to the exact link?

Thanks a lot for your feedback

Yes, this is deeply burried, because it took me two hours to get the
version info, I even had to ask here in Google groups. Doesn't that tell
you something?

I downloaded "binary_agilo-PRO-py2.5.egg.zip", does that contain version
info?

Your tones are quite harsher than the average in this group, that does tell me something.

Although I appreciate your feedback, please consider some moderation.

If you didn't see the link in the downloads page, and it took you longer to find out what you needed, I am sorry for that.
On the other hand, I personally replied to your question in less than 10 minutes, so I wouldn't be complaining so much ;)
I downloaded "binary_agilo-PRO-py2.5.egg.zip", does that contain version info?
If you unzip it, you will see it does. The fact that the zip itself does not show the version is a result of our automated process for releasing the tool in the fastest possible way, so that our community can benefit from new changes earlier.

I still think your web is a disaster, sorry.

I have asked this same question a *year ago* and noone replied. Meaning I
had to go through all this "version search" again and again. It's insane to
have to look into documentation to find a version of the software. And you
still think that's OK.

Consider changing your release script so it includes version info in the
download filename.

While the poster's tone is a bit harsh, I tend to agree with the point he
makes. Including the software version in the file name is an extremely
widely accepted convention, which not only makes it easier to find this
important information before downloading a file, it also makes it possible
to distinguish between zip file versions when a target system might need to
include multiple zip files - for parallel installations, downgrading, etc.
Giving the identical name to what are essentially completely different
files is extremely bad form, goes against well established norms, and
doesn't serve anyone's interests very well.

Additionally, the release notes page doesn't show the dates of the
releases, which again is highly unusual, and makes it almost impossible to
gain an overall understanding of release history when assessing problems.

Hi Stephen,

thanks for your feedback. More comments inline...
While the poster's tone is a bit harsh, I tend to agree with the point he makes. I agree with you, although the zip files are just download-friendly (and release-process-friendly) containers for the .egg files which do contain the version information.
Additionally, the release notes page doesn't show the dates of the releases, which again is highly unusual, and makes it almost impossible to gain an overall understanding of release history when assessing problems.
Another good point, although every download file contains a CHANGES.txt and that does include the release dates.
I have now updated the web page to include release dates as well.

Cheers,

Stefano Rago
